The Travels of the Sioux Horse Effigy

The Sioux Horse Effigy will be displayed at musèe du quai Branly, Paris, from April 7 through July 20 as part of a traveling exhibit called The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky. The Sioux Horse Effigy has a prominent position in the exhibition, which brings together about 140 of the most important works of Plains Indians art from North American and European collections. The 3-foot-long wooden dance stick is considered a masterpiece of Sioux sculpture, and serves as the symbol of the South Dakota State Historical Society.
