This pottery was hand crafted in the style of the ancient Arikara Indians by South Dakota artist Stan Wahl. It was made with clay taken from the Missouri River east of Pierre, SD and a heated granite rock that was crushed to add to the mix. The pots were hand made using the coil method. They were then fired in a home-made kiln in the fashion of the Arikara.
