Committed to keeping you informed - Offices Temporarily Closed

It’s of the utmost importance for us to keep our members, supporters, employees, volunteers, and friends safe and healthy. On Friday, Governor Noem issued an Executive Order 2020-05 regarding state employees and offices.  The purpose of this order is to control the spread of COVID-19 in South Dakota.

We have closed the offices in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre and the Archaeological Research Center in Rapid City.  This time will enable us to conduct deep cleaning in our buildings. We plan to resume operations as normal as soon as possible and will continue to follow the recommendations of our state leaders.  Any new changes in operations will be communicated as quickly as possible via our website and email.

We thank you for your understanding and for your continued support.

Who We Are

The South Dakota Historical Society Foundation is committed to telling the story of the state of South Dakota and the unique history that has helped shape our values today. We work to instill a love and appreciation for the state of South Dakota in present generations as well as generations to come.

We greatly appreciate your financial support. Your donations help fund the preservation of South Dakota’s history and ensure our success in "Keeping South Dakota History Alive".
