Horsehair Pottery Medium Buffalo w/ Feather-Turquoise

Horse hair pottery is fabled to have come from ancient Indian tribes that wanted to preserve the spirit of their horses at various phases of life.
The pottery pieces are generally simple in form and are fired at a high temperature to give the vessel strength. The piece is then fired a second time to just below red hot and quickly removed for the kiln. the horse hair is gently laid on in strands. The heat from the vessel cause the hair to curl and kink around as it leaves a black carbon trail. The pots are not glazes and are very porous.
