Historical Society Press new member of Association of University Presses

The South Dakota Historical Society Press has been accepted as an affiliate member of the Association of University Presses.

All AUP members meet certain eligibility requirements and have established the scholarly character of their press. A program of the South Dakota State Historical Society, the South Dakota Historical Society Press submitted its application in early 2017.

“Our membership with the AUP will connect the press with other scholarly institutions around the world,” says Nancy Tystad Koupal, director of the South Dakota Historical Society Press. “It grants us the opportunity to grow and support academic publishing for South Dakota and the region.”

The AUP describes itself as a community of publishing institutions and professionals committed to the highest caliber of research-based scholarship. It advocates for the fundamental role of scholarly publishing in achieving academic excellence and in cultivating and disseminating knowledge.
