Goble exhibit to close Sept. 24 at Cultural Heritage Center

Visitors to the Cultural Heritage Center Museum in Pierre have just a few more days to visit the special traveling exhibition, “A Life’s Work: Paul Goble Illustrations of American Indian Stories,” featuring South Dakota artist and author Paul Goble (1933-2017). The exhibition in the museum’s Hogen Gallery runs through Sunday, Sept. 24.
“It was an honor to bring Paul Goble’s work to the museum,” said Museum Director Jay Smith. “Goble is known throughout South Dakota for his artistic contributions and the spotlight he shone on traditional American Indian stories. The special traveling exhibition came to the museum shortly after his death, and it reminded us of his important influence on the state’s rich heritage and artists.”

The biography “Paul Goble, Storyteller” was recently published by the South Dakota Historical Society Press and written by Gregory Bryan, a professor of education at the University of Manitoba. “Paul Goble, Storyteller” is available for purchase at both Heritage Stores, located at the Cultural Heritage Center and the State Capitol.

The museum is open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. CDT Monday through Saturday, and 1-4:30 p.m. on Sundays and most holidays. Call 605-773-3458 for more information.
