Cultural Heritage Center Program looks at South Dakota History One Day At a Time

The people, places and events that were part of South Dakota history will be discussed at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Author Brad Tennant will discuss his book, “On This Day in South Dakota History” when the History and Heritage Book Club meets at 7 p.m. CDT.

Everyone is welcome to attend the free event.

The book includes more than 400 entries related to events in South Dakota history.

“One day at a time, Brad presents intriguing events, people and places that shaped the history of South Dakota and beyond,” said Michael Lewis, president of the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation. The foundation is the nonprofit fundraising partner of the South Dakota State Historical Society and the sponsor of the History and Heritage Book Club.

Tennant is a professor of history and American Studies program director at Presentation College in Aberdeen. He is an active researcher, writer and presenter on a variety of state and regional topics. He has previously spoken at the Cultural Heritage Center, most notably about the Lewis and Clark Expedition. As president of the board of trustees of the South Dakota State Historical Society, he attends board meetings and special events at the Cultural Heritage Center.

“On This Day in South Dakota History” is sold at the Heritage Stores at the Cultural Heritage Center and the Capitol.
