Century Business

Century Business Application Information

A select group of South Dakotans has accomplished something special. That accomplishment is starting a business 100 years ago or more, and having the business still in operation with ownership remaining in the same family. The South Dakota Historical Society Foundation will honor century businesses at an event in Pierre in the fall of 2013. Behind-the-scenes tours of the Cultural Heritage Center, a banquet at the Ramkota, a special publication featuring Century Businesses and more are being planned.

The South Dakota Historical Society Foundation, based at the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre, is the nonprofit fundraising partner of the South Dakota State Historical Society. Partners honoring century businesses are the South Dakota Retailers Association, South Dakota Chamber of Commerce, the South Dakota Department of Tourism, the South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office, and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
